Rain and Animal-Proof Chimney Caps The best preventative measures that you can take to secure your home from animals is to cap your chimney. An uncapped chimney is an open invitation for an animal. Albert Park installs both standard size and custom stainless-steel chimney caps. They are more than strong enough to keep raccoons out and fit tightly to prevent bats from getting through. They are also very reasonably priced. Squirrels: Most of the time when a squirrel falls into a chimney it is stuck there. Tuckpointing & Rebuilding Your chimney takes a lot of abuse from the weather and you might find that the mortar has chipped, cracked or worn and needs replacing. We grind all the joints back one half inch and replace with new mortar and strike it accordingly. If needed we will also finish with an acid wash.
